Early adopters of the newest disruptive technology, the Soncino family were the first Jewish printers in 15th century Europe. This lecture discusses some aspects of the early decades of Jewish printing, and meditates on the meaning of the current digital revolution for Jewish culture and society.

Not too long ago I watched a program on the PBS web site about Neil Armstrong in which they said that today’s cell phones have more memory than the computer on the Apollo 11 shuttle. That would have been one very slow computer! Thanks for another interesting talk.

While mentioning the Soncino Talmud & how technology will change I was thinking how publishers such as Koren are offering great PDF volumes of the Talmud to the point they are almost interactive. Judaism & technology will be getting very interesting in the short future & prehaps now. I have many apps on The Torah, Talmud & many sources of learning. Gut Shabbos!
Absolutely! Ironically, I have a wall full of seforim, but during the week I often find it easier just to look things up on my iPad, even when the books are just a few feet away.

I found that I could easily convert files from youtube into mp3 files by using the website http://www.vidtomp3.com.
